Deaming Head Number 2 is a styrofoam head with assorted pieces of coat hanger wire
jammed into it with trinkets dangling from each wire. There is a piezo pickup inserted deep within the head.
To play this head you can rub the surface, strike the wires, or smack the sucker around.
Generally the signal is heavily processed (pitch shifted down an octave and delayed and distorted) to
give a thunderous sound to this visually intriguing instrument.
During live performances, installations and just for pleasure around the house this instrument is automated
with the use of a battery powered severed hand that has a wagging finger. My wife and I created a particularly disturbing performance
art piece called "The Headache" which we performed once at COCA in Seattle using this instrument.
